School Swimming & Water Safety Program 2020

Grahamstown Public School is again offering the School Swimming & Water Safety Program for Term 4 at Lakeside Leisure Centre, for year 2 and 3 students. There are only 60 places available.

The program develops water confidence and provides students with the basic skills in water safety and survival. The scheme will be conducted for 8 days from the 30 November – 10 December 2020.

Please take note that under the current COVID-19 guidelines for the practical guide for sport and physical activity the following requirements are mandatory:

·         there is a COVID-19 Safety Plan in place

·         all swimming pool venue restrictions are followed

·         specific arrangements have been made with the venue for exclusive use or for the use of a designated area

·         the use of change rooms where possible should be avoided. Students will get changed at school before they leave and will return to school in their swimmers. Please ensure your child has something to put on over the top of their swimmers whilst walking back to school.

·         contact with the general public can be avoided

·         students do not mingle with students from a different cohort

·         students do not mingle with students from another school that might be at the venue.

The student’s will be assessed on the first day and be placed in ability groups based on their skill level.

The program cost including pool entry is $26. Students will be walking to and from the pool each day (you are not permitted to use your pool membership for this scheme).

If you wish for your child to be a part of the school swimming & water safety program for 2020, complete the permission slip over the page and return it along with the payment to the office to guarantee your child’s place in the program.  As there are limited places available as soon as all places have been filled with full payment we will no longer be taking extra students.
